Our infrared spa services include full-spectrum infrared saunas, as well as chromotherapy and sound to enhance the effects. Chromotherapy is the use of color to help balance the body’s energy. Each color possesses its own frequency, and each frequency can address different physical symptoms. A holistic infrared spa experience also features the So Sound system which brings sound and vibration together to healing effect.
Our full-spectrum infrared sauna uses clean infrared, far-infrared and near-infrared light. The light of different wavelengths penetrates the skin, causing the body to purge toxins through sweat. Far-infrared light is able to reach up to 2 inches beneath the surface of the skin, enabling a more powerful cleanse than a traditional sauna.
There is more to an infrared sauna than detoxification, however: the red light fuels the mitochondria in the body, improving recovery rates for skin and muscle. This helps to clear blemishes in the skin and allow muscles to recover faster after a workout. The gentle heat of the sauna assists weight loss and relieves pain, improving circulation in sore areas of the body.
There are many reasons to visit an infrared sauna, from weight loss and smoother skin to muscle gain and pain relief.

How does an infrared sauna differ from a standard sauna?
Conventional saunas use hot rocks or steam heat to raise the room’s temperature high enough to be beneficial. Visitors sweat from the heat, flushing out surface-level toxins, but the heat level can often be unbearable and the steam can make breathing difficult. These saunas will certainly make you sweat, but will only do so at the surface of the tissue.
Infrared saunas, which are sometimes known as light therapy saunas, use infrared light, which is part of the sun’s invisible spectrum and has the ability to penetrate human tissue, to heat the body directly instead of just the air around you, creating radiant heat that is all your own.
An infrared sauna provides a 100% safe, healthy form of heat therapy that is gentle on the skin and raises the body’s core temperature, which enables a much deeper sweat on the cellular level where more toxins are stored.
Compared to a traditional sauna, an infrared sauna allows visitors to shed significantly more toxins. Analysis of the level of toxins in a person’s sweat after time in a traditional sauna is about 3 percent. In an infrared sauna, the level of toxins sweated out rises to approximately 20 percent, the result of infrared light’s deeper penetration.
Health benefits are, of course, the primary reason to enter a state of deep sweat, and in an infrared spa you can do so comfortably--the heat is soothing and the room is ventilated, making for a deeply relaxing and meditative experience.
Chromotherapy: A Rainbow of Health Benefits
Chromotherapy is the use of color to help balance the body’s energy. Each color possesses its own frequency, and each frequency can address different physical symptoms. The practice of using color and light to heal dates back thousands of years and by incorporating chromotherapy into our infrared spa, we’re modernizing a health practice with ancient roots.
Different colors act on different parts of the body to achieve different health outcomes. Red light bolsters circulatory and nervous system functions. Yellow, the brightest color used in chromotherapy, can be used to purify skin, aid indigestion, treat glandular diseases, assist metabolism, and more. Blue promotes calm, mitigating migraines and headaches as well as colds, stress, nervous tension, and liver disorders, and is beneficial for general pain relief. The final color on the chromotherapy spectrum, violet, supports the lymphatic system and spleen, urinary disorders and more.
Mixing Light and Sound Therapy
A holistic infrared spa experience also features the So Sound system which brings sound and vibration together to healing effect. So Sound harmonizes all the systems of the body, gently leading you into a state of deep and calming relaxation. Audio signals attached at specific points in the infrared sauna mean the gentle music you hear will both soothe your ear and resonate through your body. Infrared sauna users have likened it to a light-touch massage during an already relaxing infrared spa session.
In tandem with our float tanks and red light therapy, our infrared spas are another way for Urban Float to be part of your journey toward greater wellness and healing.
